This past week I decided my ongoing quest to find that one donut has come to an end. I came to this conclusion after being disappointed countless times by donuts that all tasted vastly different; but didn't fully satisfy the experience I was searching for.
The reverse migration bike tour of 2010, I've been longing to experience donuts from that ravenous calorie deprived state of need.
That sensation of yearning for that one donut has stayed with me for 6 years. Wouldn't it be great to channel that repetitive need to scratch an itch into practice that brings longterm value to life?
That's a lifehack I'm hoping to cultivate and explore through the practice of this blog. My goal is to use weekly Wellness Wednesday posts as a public milestone to evaluate how I'm doing on the personal goals is set for myself each week.
I figure if I use an external celebratory goal, I'm more likely to keep up and stay realistic with the goals I set for myself persoanlly. This is the exact same recipe we used to reach Colombia on the bike tour with my Sister. A series of attainable small goals to reach a larger end goal, all the while celebrating what progress you do make.
If your into in growth mindset stuff, Gabor Maté is an incredible thought leader in the field of addiction because he studies his relationship with addiction and compares it with that of others. I highly recommend giving this youtube vid on The Possible Human an hour of your time. It's a long one so listen while you clean, cook, or tinker. I found it immensly insightful and humbling.
The cycle of need and want is part of the human experience. How we manage it or don't is what affects us daily.
